Barrel of Barrels
|
The Barrel full of Barrels in The Big Mountains is a great place to get booze, and should be a daily stop for all characters. While there are other items of interest, it is the booze which is by far the most important. To get the booze efficiently, you need to know how the Barrel works. This page attempts to explain this. Organization. The Barrel full of Barrels, although consisting of thirty six barrels in six rows and six columns, is effectively divided into nine groups (called "sets" here), each consisting of four barrels arranged in a square. Contents. The contents of the barrels in each four barrel set are similar. The three sets of barrels in each a row consist of; 1) a set of barrels with booze, 2) a set of barrels with stat boosters, and 3) a set of barrels with HP/MP restorers. The quality of these items decreases as you go down the set rows.

Usage Strategy
Set Row 1
- Always get the drinks from this row.
- Pick one barrel from each set in the Row until you get a drink or have made one pick in each of the three sets in the Row.
- Repeat the previous step until a drink is found.
- Once a drink is found, pick all of the rest of the barrels in that set. After this, do not make picks from the other sets in this Row.
Set Row 2
- Make picks in this Row if you have access to good mixers. This will usually mean being able to go to the Hippy Store. The bottles are normally not worth the adventures needed if you don't have mixers.
- Make your first pick in a Column other than the one in which booze was found in Row 1.
- Repeat the procedure for Row 1, looking for bottles of booze.
- When a bottle is found, pick all the rest of the barrels in that set.
Set Row 3
- Make picks in this Row only if you need drinks which give a Drunkenness of 1.
- Make your first pick in the Column which did not have booze in both Row 1 and Row 2.
- If the first set picked does not contain booze, pick the set in the same Column as booze was found in Row 1.
- Once a shot or Fine Wine is found, pick as many of the barrels in that set as are needed.
Dangers
There are two dangers while smashing the barrels. These occur randomly.
| Explosions | An explosion will do damage. One explosion will normally do damage equal to ten to sixty percent of your maximum HP. Obviously, to avoid being Beaten Up, always make sure you have at least two-thirds of your HP available before smashing a barrel. | |
|---|---|---|
| Mimics | A Mimic causes a standard fight. Depending on your class, you should be able to handle a Mimic relatively easily by Levels 7 or 8. |
Other Benefit
Starting in late 2006, Ten Leaf Clovers began dropping in the Barrel full of Barrels. While nice to get, this item is only a side benefit.
