Clan Basement
Hello everyone. Your fearless Clan Morgue Manager here, with some very important Clan-Basement-related news. Please read this text; if you are planning to adventure in the Clan Basement, you will be responsible for everything that's contained therein.
First, it's extremely important to remember that the Clan Basement is a multiplayer area, and requires coordination and cooperation. This makes it entirely different from pretty much every other part of KoL. It also means that we need to make sure everyone in the clan is rowing in the same direction, so to speak.
To that end, if you are adventuring in the Clan Basement, it is MANDATORY that you are in chat. You need to be either in the channel "hobopolis" or listening to "hobopolis" if you are playing in Hobopolis, and if you are playing in the Slimetube, same goes with the "slimetube" channel. The chat command to listen is "/l hobopolis" respectively "/l slimetube". This requirement is to ensure that everyone is on track, and especially that no one is unnecessarily gnawing through the bars of the cages in the sewers, or jumping the queue for boss or sub-boss fights. If you are adventuring in the Clan Basement and are not in chat, are ignoring chat, and do not respond to kmail or other requests to join chat, you will have your Clan Rank reset to Quarantined. Quarantined rank precludes you from adventuring in the Clan Basement. If your rank is restored and you continue to ignore chat, you will be removed from Old CW's Germ-Free Clan altogether. If you are Quarantined for one month and do not attempt restitution you will be booted from the clan.
Adventuring in Hobopolis:
Please do not gnaw through the bars if you become trapped in a cage in the sewers. Gnawing takes 10 adventures and impacts the speed of our runs. More often than not, there will be someone else around who can release you. Again, this is why chat is mandatory - it allows you to contact others for help if you get stuck. If there is no one in chat, and there is no other way to get someone to release you, you may gnaw through the bars, but only as a last resort. If we find that you have been gnawing through the bars repeatedly, you will have your clan rank reset to Quarantined.
Adventuring in the Slime Tube:
Until things settle down, every player is only allowed to be in 1 instance per day.
Do not squaaze gall bladders. Do not run +ML in the slimetube. For those wanting to run +ML we are working on getting special speed run teams up to do them in InvisiClan.
Read the wiki pages for: "The Slime Tube" and "Engulfed!"
Engulfed!: Tickle the uvula. If you convert a rusty piece of equipment to a slime-covered piece you must state in on the slime tube channel so people can keep track of how many have been done per instance. Per tickle, 1 item can be slimed. Players are only allowed to create ONE slime-covered piece of equipment per day so everyone has a chance to get some. Do not make more than you actually personally need (they are not tradable anyway).
* Please offer any spare equipment you get from wads of slimy rags to other clan members rather than selling them.
Bosses:
It is only fair that everyone who wants to should have the chance to defeat any of the 5 sub-bosses, Hodgman, the Hoboverlord and Mother Slime. If there are multiple players who want these opportunities, a queue will be formed in chat. If one player loses to Mother Slime, s/he goes back to the end of the line. Though there is no scientific queuing method in place, the queue is nonetheless to be followed as if it were law. Anyone found jumping the queue will be immediately reset to the rank of Quarantined. Repeated queue-jumping will result in expulsion from the clan. Because, as Bob Dylan once wrote, "Jumping queues and making haste just ain't my cup of meat."
Do not distribute any loot yourself or you will be demoted or expelled from the clan.
Hobopolis Loot:
Now, I'm sure many of you are wondering about loot distribution. After a lot of discussion about fairness, efficiency, attempts to take into account a plethora of factors, and some good ol'-fashioned alchemy, Mephesia has come up with a fair and quick method for distributing the loot dropped by the sub-bosses and the Hoboverlord. While we appreciate the idea of a silent auction, or some other method by which people can bid on various items, the fact of the Clan Basement is that it cannot be reset until the loot has been distributed. One week later, we are still averaging about one Clan Basement run per day, which does not leave a lot of time for auctions, rolling, silent or otherwise. Thus, what Mephesia has done is created a weighted random distribution system, based on the number of adventures spent in the Clan Basement. Those who spend more adventures will have a greater chance of receiving loot. You must spend at least 100 adventures in the basement to be eligible, and no player who has won loot in the last two basements may receive loot from the current one, nor may any player win two pieces of loot in one basement. Adventures spent making shakes, grenades and bandages will not be included in the player's turn count, nor will any defeats suffered. There's some complicated spreadsheet work involved, but I leave that to Mephesia because he's the math guy. In any case, after a lot of back and forth about how to distribute loot, and having bounced the idea off of higher-ups in the clan administration, we all feel that this is the best method in terms of fairness and efficiency. Also, if for any reason you'd rather be left out of all distributions, send a kmail to myself (Lester22) and Mephesia, and we'll take care of that.
SlimeTube Loot:
Loot will be passed out by lottery based on the number of adventures spent in that instance of the tube. For now it is each raw adventure gets 1 ticket. Once we have a parser tool available it will be 1 ticket per kill. Note: you must have at least 20 adventures/kills to be in the lottery. The Boss killer gets 30 extra tickets.
The clan spreadsheet now has a page for the Slime Tube. Please enter/check your preferences. For the non outfit items enter the data as: Have/Wanted. E.g. 4/10 means you have 4 and want 6 more (total of 10).
Requirements:
With a lot of skills and some Mr. Store familiars, you may survive the sewers and the tube on a very low level. However, for the SlimeTube, level 10ish is recommended, for the Sewers level 15ish, for Hobo Town even more. If you go in too early, you will most likely just raise the run's turncount by adding defeats. This is not a rule, just a recommendation.
Finally, right you need only 50,000 karma to adventure in the Clan Basement (that is not much, compared to some other clans). We'd like to keep it this way, but it does cost one million meat every time Hobopolis is reset, and a quarter million for every SlimeTube reset, and donations are welcome and encouraged. Finally finally, as with all clan policies, the above-stated rules and practices are subject to change at any time without notice.
Thanks for playing. See you in the sewers!
