Level 3
Time for another round through the town. You will notice that you can now
- join a clan,
- go shopping at the flea market and
- get a new Council quest.
Clans
There are basically 2 ways to find a clan that suits you.
Either you are active in chat and find some people who would enjoy your company. If you want to join the clan of someone, you can find his/her clan on his/her profile page (click on the player's name in chat). Click on the clan's name and look at the member list while scrolling down where you find a button and a checkbox. Use that tiny form to apply to this clan.
The other way to find a clan would be in Seaside Town, in the Clan District. You can use the search form to either look for a clan with a specific name or a clan with specific attributes, for example, a minimum number of members, certain furniture and so on. Once you found the clan you'd like to join, it works as before: Click on the clan's name and look at the member list while scrolling down where you find a button and a checkbox. Use that tiny form to apply to this clan.
Flea Market
Economy! Okay, a small part of it. Unless you already did some trading in chat before, you'll now be able to sell your stuff to people who are totally unknown to you! Give an item, get meat. Give meat, get an item. Browsing through other people's wares might also give you a hint to all the secrets in this game that you cannot access yet, but will be able to see once you explored enough.
Note: Listing something costs a fee, selling costs a little as well; you might recognize the structure from eBay.
Council Quest
Back to the Distant Woods, into the Tavern. You will see 25 squares. Due to the darkness down there, the only way to know what's where is to explore and remember it. There are basically 4 types of squares: Rats (combat), booze (non-combat), the Baron von Ratsworth (combat) who is the first Boss monster you can encounter, and the faucet (non-combat).
To finish the quest, you just need to find the faucet and turn it off. This closes the rat cellar for you, so don't do it if you want to keep adventuring down there. For example, you may want to fight more rats (remember the Pretentious Artist?), find more booze or beat the boss. Why that? Because boss monsters usually drop something interesting.
To keep track of the squares you explored you can use your level 1 skill, the one that the Toot Oriole made you use already. Each cast lasts 5 turns, so cast it 5 times and you have 1 turn for each square. To remember exactly which square contains what, you can use your quest notes. In the top pane, you'll see quests, then on the right side in the main pane you see notes. This area can take whatever you write into it (don't forget to use the Save button every now and then) and will keep it as long as you don't remove it yourself. To add a note to it without having to leave the current adventure, you can use the chat:
/note faucet in row 2, square 3
This would append everything behind the /note to your quest notes, behind the last line, if existing.
Guild
You might be able pass the next task of your guild boss now. Additionally, some guild people might deem you experienced enough to solve some problems for them.
Right in the front, there are 2 other members of the guild, one of your class, one of the other class with the same main stat.
The one of your class will ask you to smith a special weapon, made of 3 parts. For this quest, it helps to remember how you started. What did you have, what did the Toot Oriole tell you about?
The other guild member in the front is a little less friendly, but you will still get a quest to do, of the "adventure until you get something" kind. The Nearby Plains are the place to start this.
Behind the boss, in the back row, you will find the guild trainer who can teach you all kind of class-specific skills, and next to him, the guild's janitor. That guy seems to have lost the guild's meatcar, and you will have to rebuild it. The Nearby Plains are the place to start gathering items.
By the way, have you talked to the Untinker lately?
